Eden Valley Railway, just off A66 east of Penrith
Eden Valley Railway, what a surprise find. 2 class 37's, a little shabby but nevertheless in preservation (no.s 37042 with original split headcode boxes and 37250. both need a good repaint, not sure if mechanically sound or able to run?? also present a selection of slam door southern EMU's on display and some various coaching stock. Must visit soon and see what they have running.

Edith St bridge demolition, Easter weekend 2011
After over 100 years carrying the railway from Sunderland to Hartlepool, the underbridge at Dawdon spanning Edith Street finally meets its end. With a hydraulic shear attachment the demolition machine made short work of the steel deck (only taking 1.5hrs to remove altogether) and then the brickwork supporting it was modified for the new deck. The works started on Friday night of 22nd and finished in the early hours of Monday 26th April.

The End for 45015 after so long waiting to be saved
After many years being stored for eventual preservation the final curtain has now come down on the rapidly decomposing "Peak" 45015. Languishing at the Battlefield Line, its days are now over and is to be scrapped after component recovery or other classmates lucky enough to escape the cutters torch after over 4 decades of loyal service. Another piece of British Railways history confined to the photo albums of those wanting to preserve in memory only...

Farve arrives in style (diesel style!)
Dad, John, Dee, Micky O, and Bill arrive in Newcastle on a grey and damp Saturday afternoon on a diesel charter (Spitfire Tours) behind two 66's and a 57, with two 37's on the rear...wow what an ensemble. The class 20 that hauled them over the S&C was removed after Carlisle, with everything else staying put! with 12 packed coaches in the consist this was probably the longest and heaviest passenger train to pass through the Toon on the day. Sorry about the quality of piccies but my camera is not the best and the light was poor.
Great to see you Dad, and good to meet J,D and at last Mick.

Mega Structure!!
This is probably one of the largest multi-semaphore signal gantries erected on the BR network. This one was once in place approximately 500 yards north of Rugby station on the WCML. This photo was taken before the Great Central "Birdcage" bridge was built across the main lines. Brave men stand confidently on the gantry displaying their pride in what their achievement.
