York Station - magnificant

always amazing how ever many times you see it..

Cosford by night

I took this photo whilst on a possession at Cosford Station. We were re-painting the bridge steelwork and the light was just right so here it is...

"Garry Bridge"

I used to spend hours on Newton Bridge or "Garry Bridge" as we called it as you had to drive through the Garringtons engineering works to get to it. We used to place 2p coins on the track for the 37 bankers to roll over, they used to end up three times the size and wafer thin! we'd end up getting arrested for that these days!!

Peak at New Street (45120)

Memories of Staurday afternoons sat at the end of platform 1 on New Street in the 70's and 80's....

worcester bridge

A few views of Worcester railway bridge over the Severn taken on 28th March 2010 when I was out on my bike. I like the curvature of the brick arch viaduct as it rounds the city into Foregate St station.

All rust and no prime

This is me inside the tubeless boiler of GWR 2-6-2 Prairie Tank engine no. 4141 at Hampton Loade in what is my best guess 1982, well before she was ready for running. Unfortunately I never got to see her in action when in ticket on the GCR but hopefully a new boiler cert in the future will secure me an opportunity for a reunion?? The timber blocks are wedged between the remaining boiler tubes to allow me just enough room to drop through the hole left by the earlier removed pressure dome!

Gwili Railway

Rail crane and vintage rolling stock on the Gwili Railway.

Henwick Box at night.

If you look closely, even though a train is passing through the crossing you can still see the bus on the other side???

Cockwood Harbour

Such a beautiful place even in the winter.
a Boggy rattling over the harbour bridge..follwed a little later by a 125.

Blink and you will miss her

Bradley Manor not stopping this time at Bewdley on the SVR

One of my favourite views

I just love this view down Bangor pier towards Snowdonia, especially on such a clear, calm and beautiful day as this one was...

Moving Boats at Dickies of Bangor

Its great to watch this piece of kit picking up and placing everyone's prize yachts into the sea at Dickies Boatyard in Bangor. I have seen it in opertaion several times and always find it fascinating to watch.

Diesel Hydraulic D1055 Western Advocate

Not the best of photos of this particular "Western" but this one has a local connection as it was unfortunate enough to end its days in a fatal accident at Tunnel Hill, Worcester in late 1971 when it passed a signal at danger and ran into the back of a standing parcels train. sadly this resulted in the death of both the driver and second man of D1055.

Retired speed bird

Not flown for some time but still holds your attention. This old Hawk would have spent many a day in its active days training pilots and maybe used in active service?

Norton Junction Signal Box.

I used to spot just round the corner from Norton Junction at Abbotswood in my younger days. Always remember watching 47's, and Peaks storming past and 50's crossing over the top on the Oxford Line. Great summer days.

Type 5 class 66 (66024) at Worcester Shrubb Hill just about to head off for its next turn of duty.

The light was poor when I took this shot and it was raining, but I tried and its not too bad! Type 5's aren't my favourites by far, a bit too new and no real diesel engine noise unlike the type 3's and 2's.

Henwick Road Signal Box

This is my local signal box on the Henwick Road at the site of the former Henwick Halt Station closed many years ago. Quaint GWR box always kept in good order.

Colas Rail Brush Type 4 47727 "Rebecca" at Worcester Shrubb Hill

Your nicked! emergency services day on Worcester Race Course in the summer of 09.

I feel the need, the need for speed!!!

Big isn't it!!! no wonder 747's make so much noise!

Electro-diesel class 73 on low loader at Juntion 16 of M6 last summer, not sure where it was off to?

Worcester Foregate Street Station Underbridge 100 years old!
